From the 50s classic to the most important musical of the 21st century.

When you're running out of ideas, it's time to turn to the movies for help. Characters from a wide variety of films infect viewers with romance and teach them how to surprise their partners.

1. La La Land, 2016

Kindred spirits meet in Los Angeles: Mia, who dreams of an acting career, and Sebastian, who wants to open a jazz club. Together, the dreamers strive for a bright future, but in the end, they must make a choice – personal happiness or the realization of their ambitions?

During their first date, the girl runs away from her boring boyfriend and rushes to Seb. The movie has already started and Sebastian seems to have lost hope that his new acquaintance will remember his invitation.

But Mia bursts into the hall in a green dress, and a little later the two head for the observatory. The director clearly knows a lot about dates: the boundaries of reality are blurred and the lovers dance against the backdrop of the starry sky.

2. 500 Days of Summer, 2009

500 Days of Summer is an unconventional romance that teaches us not to idealize our partners and not to turn a blind eye to problems in relationships. Marc Webb illustrates fragments of the story of Tom and Summer – colleagues who shared many happy moments, but were unable to build a future together.

One of the funniest scenes in the movie is a trip to IKEA. At that moment, the characters are at the very beginning of their relationship, and Tom is once again convinced that he has met the one.

As they walk through various departments, the couple fools around, pretending to be a perfect family in their perfect home. And even if they do not have a happy ending, their first date in the furniture store will certainly be remembered for a long time.

3. Before Sunrise, 1995

An American, Jesse, and a Frenchwoman, Celine, meet on a train and make the fateful decision to get off at the Vienna station and spend the night together. In the morning, the young man must return home and the woman must go to Paris.

The two have a limited amount of time to get to know each other. Richard Linklater created an exemplary dialogue drama that became a trilogy: every nine years, a new installment of the romantic franchise was released.

The movie is like a long date: Jesse and Celine walk through a beautiful city and talk a lot. What more do you need for a perfect date?

But perhaps the peak of romance can be seen in a record store: the young people find themselves in a cramped booth, listening to music and exchanging awkward glances. At that moment, the viewer understands: strangers have finally fallen in love.

4. Roman Holiday, 1953

Ann is a young princess who has come to Rome for official events. The girl is tired of royal duties and wants to be an ordinary tourist for at least one day. The young lady goes out in the evening and meets journalist Joe.

In fact, Ann and Joe did not have a date, but the characters spent an incredibly happy day together. Accompanied by a charismatic journalist, the princess begins to explore the ancient city: young people go to the Spanish Steps, eat ice cream, and race around the city on a Vespa.
